For those of you still dealing with record-high temperatures, I created two new recipe collections. One is a collection of iced coffee recipes and other cold coffee recipes. The other is a collection of iced tea recipes and other cold tea recipes.
These go way beyond regular iced coffee and iced tea. They include things like coffee ice cream recipes, tea "agua fresca" recipes, and cold coffee- and tea-based cocktails. Ready to chill? Check them out.

Chamomile and lavender are both classic herbal infusions. In fact, both made it on the new list of Top Ten Teas for Afternoon Tea. However, it looks like these age-old comfort herbs are seeing a resurgence in trendy food scenes across the country.
CHOW called chamomile and lavender two of the biggest food trends of 2010 (so far). Apparently, the herbs have been popping up in restaurants across the country in foods like panna cotta, gelee and doughnuts.
According to The Denver Post, Colorado is crazy for lavender for all kinds of uses. One local lavender farm serves visitors lavender ice cream, lavender lemonade and lavender iced tea.
If you'd like to get more experimental with these trendy-classic herbs, check out these recipes:

Read more...Have you heard of egg coffee? (Hint: It's not like egg cream.)
I recently met Kari Diehl (About's Guide to Scandinavian Food), who told me all about egg coffee. You may remember from Black Coffee or elsewhere that early European coffee drinkers often added eggshells to their coffee during brewing (which was really more of a boiling than an infusion process at the time). However, Kari told me that the tradition of using eggshells while brewing coffee is still a known, semi-practiced tradition in Scandinavian cooking and in some contemporary Midwestern Lutheran churches. Apparently, eggshells reduce the bitterness in coffee. Fascinating! Plus, it far cheaper and less unnerving than civet coffee.
You can learn to make Scadinavian Egg Coffee on Kari's site. Have you tried egg coffee before? What did you think of it?

Read more...It looks like Twinings Tea might get a brand makeover with the help of eccentric (and hugely influential) pop star Lady Gaga. According to The Sun, Lady Gaga is in negotiations with Twinings to create a Lady Gaga tea blend, which may or may not be named "The Taste of Gaga" and will likely have an "oriental" flavor. Twinings' intent in signing Lady Gaga on for a new blend appears to be an appeal toward younger, trendier consumers. After years of talk within the tea industry about how to get young people to drink tea, it appears Twinings may have found an in... or a way to drop a few million pounds.
What do you think? Will Lady Gaga encourage a new generation to try Twingings tea? Or will it be another example of a celebrity endorsement with lukewarm results?

Breakfast time is one of the most popular times to drink coffee. There's a huge potential for enjoying the complementary flavors of specific coffees with specific breakfast foods, yet very few people consciously pair coffee and breakfast. As a long-time advocate of tea-pairings and a newer advocate of coffee pairings, I'm hoping to change that a little. That's why I created this new guide to breakfast coffee pairings. It includes simple breakfasts, like oatmeal or fruit and cheese, as well as more elaborate breakfasts, like quiches and crepes.
Although this guide to coffee pairings includes a range of breakfast foods, it is by no means comprehensive, and there are many, many more ways to combine the flavors of coffee with breakfast foods. I'd love to hear about some of your coffee-and-breakfast-food pairings. If you have a favorite, please share it in the comments below.

Keurig brewers are one of those things you have never heard of or you feel very strongly about. For better or worse, they have a following, and they have a lot of utility in offices across the country. I recently had the chance to review a new Keurig coffeemaker, the Keurig B155, as well as several lines of K-cups:
